What is a chemical peel?

Peels are considered an accelerated form of exfoliation, induced through stimulation of the skin by a chemical solution.

It is a safe and common practice .

The solutions contain Alpha-hydroxy acids and Beta-hydroxy acids, particulary glycolic acid, which is found in fruit acid.

For medium peels Trichloro-acetic acid is most commonly used.

What is the benefit of a peel?

It will in no way alter the shape of your face.

It reduces sun damage, fine lines, shallow acne scars, dry or rough skin, dull skin tone hyper-pigmentation and enlarged pores.

It improves the skins condition and appearance by replacing dead skin cells with healthy ones and improving clarity and brightness by promoting formation of new collagen and elastin

What happens during a session?

A session normally lasts 15 -30 minutes;cleansing of the area to be treated, application of the peel and finally in certain cases, neutralisation.Ideally, for most peels, you need to do at least 4 sessions a couple of weeks apart.

What are the after effects?

A few hours after application,a slight sunburn effect will appear, depending on the type of treatment received.

Is it painful?

During application of the peel solution you will feel a tingling sensation,a perfectly bearable feeling of heat and then everything will settle down.

What precautions do I need to take?

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant,if you are undergoing any beauty(hair removal,tanning,micro-dermabrasion)or medical treatment
